November 2015- Mysterious works on paper- Obras misteriosas en papel opening in Madrid, Spain. A new collection of paintings, acrylic on watercolour paper created while in Spain this fall. The Inaguración (opening) takes place November 19th @ 2000hrs at Espacio Cultural Abierto, Calle Dr Velasco 6, Madrid, Spain
October 2015– I completed my third International Artist Residency in Almeriá, Spain where I created a sculptural piece made from Almond branch pruning woven together to create a shape. Please check out my blog for photos and more information about my Healing Palabra Ball project.
August 2015– My painting Holding the Tension of Orange has been selected as one of several street pole banners being produced ithrough Indefinite Arts Society Calgary and their Legacy Flag project. The flags will fly along Heritage Drive S.W. east and west of Fairmont Drive. They will be unveiling the work in conjunction with Alberta Cultural days September 26th, 2015
May-July 2015– My piece Desigual is on exhibit at The Walterdale Theatre, Edmonton as part of The Alberta Society of Artists, juried New members work.
May 9/15-June14/15- My piece Liberando Rojo is on exhibit at The Leighton Centre, Calgary as part of the juried members show.
February 5th- March 28th– TENGINGAR: Connections and contrasts in Iceland. This is my exhibition featuring my work completed in Residency May 2014. The exhibition features some large canvases, smaller paintings and photographs. Opening is Feb 5th @ 7:00pm-9:30 at The Visual Arts Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta
October 2014- The 2014 Edinburgh Art fair will take place Nov 14-Nov 16th in Edinburgh at the Corn Exchange. They are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year. My London Gallery White Peaks Fine Art will be there representing my work. http://www.artedinburgh.com/about
August 2014- The City of Calgary has selected me as one of their artists who design for the Utility Box Program. I just completed my design which will be a vinyl wrap of 5 of my paintings, a different one on each side. This box design will go up in the community of Wildwood in 2015.
June 2014– I spent the month of May 2014 in residency in Iceland. Check out my blog posts to see some of my work. The body of this work will show in Edmonton at the (VAAG) Visual Arts Alberta Gallery February-March 2015

February 2014- I now have Gallery representation with Whitepeaks Fine Art in London, UK. I just shipped several paintings to them which will be up in the gallery in the next few weeks.
March 04- March 28, 2014– I will have a solo show at Visual Arts Society of St Albert(VASA). 25 Sir Winston Churchill Avenue St Albert. The show is titled The Passion Series a body of work that will include several pieces from my residency work this past year. The opening is Saturday March 08th 1:00-4:00pm.
Dec 2013- I have just been notified of acceptance for a second solo show in late 2014-2015…Stay tuned I will post more details very soon.
Nov-Dec, 2013– It’s official…I’m off to Europe again…I know I know I just returned from an amazing trip through Spain…I came home and was longing desperately to be back in Europe…It feeds my artists soul! Fortunately an opportunity has come through and I have accepted the offer. I will be living and working in Paris…well just outside of Paris..between Versailles and Paris for one month. I’ll have my own garden studio/accommodation. Mid November to Mid December, 2013….I’m so excited!

Aug-2013-I became involved with The Alberta Flood Rose Project this summer after I was approached to be the official Photographer of all the images that poured in for this find raising event. I have three paintings from my Passion Series showing at Ruberto Osteberg Gallery in the upcoming show titled Artist’s Choice. This is an open themed juried exhibition of The Alberta Society of Artist’s members diverse work. The Opening is Thursday, July 18th, 2013, 5:00-8:00pm at the gallery. It will show from July 18th-August 27th, 2013. The gallery is located at 2018-18th St N.W. Calgary
The Tip Your Hat Event has been changed due to the flood in YYC. It will now offer some of the hats for sale at DaDe Art and Design Lab with a portion of the proceeds going to the local flood Relief efforts. http://www.thisismycitycalgary.ca/2013/TipYourHat2013.html
I was recently asked to participate as an artist in This Is My City’s- Tip Your Hat a charitable non profit group that fund raises for the homeless in Calgary. I of course accepted and now have two white hats to work on which will be auctioned off on Sat June 22, 2013 at Dade Art and Design. I have work in the upcoming fund raiser sale & exhibition titled Square One, June 01-22, 2013 at The St Albert Art Gallery, St Albert, Alberta.
I’m very pleased to share that two of my large canvases have been selected by the City of Calgary Public Arts Project ‘Open Spaces’. They will be up from May 01 until early September, 2013 along the Centre Street LRT station in downtown Calgary.
The next 14 months are shaping up to be rather busy for me but busy in a good sense. I began applying for Residencies in 2012 and was delighted to hear of my acceptance into three separate and very different ones earlier this year. The first will be in Ottawa this summer, then I’m home for a week before heading off to Spain until late October. The third is scheduled for May 2014 in Iceland. An exciting time for me as an artist.
I will have several of my new oil on cradled wood panel paintings that are part of my Fragments Series in the upcoming ASA New Members show March 08th-April 02, 2013, at Art Point Gallery, Calgary, Alberta

The first will be on October 27th, 2012 for the Women’s Art Museum Society Of Canada’s annual Fund raiser sale. It will be held in the Mount Royal Village mall (lower level) from 10:00am-5:00pm. I am coordinating this event and I will be present during the sale. Come on down to the event, I would love to meet you and talk art.

Deborah Catton Solo Art Show May 2012:
I have an upcoming show of my current abstracts at Higher Ground in Calgary this May. The show will be up until mid July beginning May 14th, 2012. There will be an opening reception for the event on May 17th, 2012 at 7:00pm at The Higher Ground on Kensington. I hope to meet many art enthusiasts, fellow artists and my wonderful friends who have been supportive at the event.

I am happy to report that one of my card deck images titled ‘Root Chakra Surrender’ has been selected for the show. The show is called the Blues Java Selection. Home and Hearth show at Evanescence Gallery
I have some new pieces in this juried show which opens Dec 02,-Dec 22,2011. This is a show where no piece will be larger than 11X11 in size and everything is under $250. It is a great opportunity to pick up a gift for someone special or to treat yourself. Each artists work will come gift wrapped according to the holiday season. Accepted piece into WAM virtual Gallery
I have just been notified that one of my pieces has been accepted into WAM”s (Women’s Art Museum Society of Canada) virtual gallery. They will showcase 14 current Canadian artists in their online Virtual gallery. It should be in place by the end of this year and viewable on their website at http://www.wamsoc.ca/
One Day Art Auction
The WAMSC (Women’s Art Museum Society of Canada) is having a one day fundraising art auction in Edmonton On Sept 24th,2011. It will be held from 10:00am- 4:00pm at the Queen Alexandra Community League 10425- University Ave, Edmonton. I will have several pieces in the auction. It is a great opportunity to add some new pieces to your art collection from some fantastic Canadian artists as well as supporting the development of the WAMSC, a project that has great potential in recognizing the many women artists in our country. During the week of July 25- 30th,2011, I have some new paintings showing at Evanescence Gallery in the ‘Who Art Thou?’ show. It’s a mystery show and artists names are not revealed until the closing night. I can’t reveal any of the works here but if you get a chance to visit the gallery perhaps you will guess right about which are mine.

RECENTLY ACCEPTED SUBMISSION
I have just heard the news that three of my pieces have been accepted for the world Premier Fumbling Towards Ecstasy Ballet Art Show, featuring the music of Sarah McLachlan. This event will take place in Calgary and Edmonton in May 2011. Two pieces will be at the Edmonton premier and one will be at the Calgary premier.
